The Beginning – 21 DAYS TO #FEELIT with Virgin Active

Virgin Active have challenged myself and 20 other social content creators to #FEELIT and kick-start 2017 the right way! For 21 days follow my #Feelit journey as I’m going to need all the support I can get!

Why 21 days I hear you ask? Well it’s been said it takes 21 days to Implement and Sustain a habit, so fingers crossed at the end of the 21 days working out for me will become second nature and something which fits nicely into my lifestyle!

I’m not going to beat around the bush when I talk about my struggles with my weight and fitness, I know I’m overweight there isn’t any doubt in my mind. But its only now I’ve decided to actually do something about it! I think a great way of spurring me on to achieve goals of healthy weight loss and feeling good about myself is to document where I am now, which will in time hopefully change! So here we have my current stats, I was shocked to see how much I actually weigh and how far away from my goal I actually am!

Current Stats:

  • Weight: 15st 4lb / 97.5kg
  • Height: 5’11”
  • BMI: 30.1
  • Body Fat: 26.7%
  • Body Fat Mass: 26.0 kg

For my age (25) and being male I should weigh between 9st 6lb – 12st 10lb, I know I’m never going to be 9st 6lb as for my build that would be ridiculously unhealthy! But I have an aim of trying to get to the 12st mark as I have previously been this weight (a very long time ago) and thought I looked ok!

I think the thing that scared me the most was my BMI! 30.1 takes me into the overweight category which didn’t shock me, but after looking into the effects a high BMI can have on someones health really did. High blood pressure and the risk diabetes are not something I want to be thinking about at the age of 25 (or ever in my life) so again another reason for me to work hard.

So I have teamed up with Virgin Active who are going to whip me into shape! I’m looking forward to delving into the world of classes (I have previously done Spin which I loved so can hopefully pick this back up) and I’ve also been appointed a Personal Trainer who I’m hoping is going to put me through my paces and push me!

As a Brightonian I shall be using the Virgin Active Brighton Health & Racquets Club which has state of the art gym equipment, an indoor & outdoor pool and racquet facilities. Also one of my favourite parts the Jacuzzi, Sauna & Steam Room which I will be using as a reward after a gym or PT session!

As this blog title suggests, this is only the beginning! Follow me on Twitter & Instagram for daily updates on my progress and how I’m feeling! I will be posting every week with an update on my stats and what I’ve been up to!
