Murdock Barbers London | REVIEW

For someone pretty conscious of the way he looks, you’d be surprised to know I had never actually been to a Barbers before. . . that was until this weekend. I normally get my hair cut by a stylist whose forte is in lady’s hair so I really wanted to visit a Barber to get the full experience and skill of someone who specialises is men’s hair. So when I was in London this weekend, I thought what better place!

I hadn’t a clue where was good to go so like I do for most things I googled it! “Best Barbers In London” which resulted in me finding a July 2016 article from Esquire who talk about their favourite 14 barbers in London, Murdock Barbers being one of them.

Out of that list I was instantly drawn to Murdock Barbers so popped over to their super user-friendly website to see what all the fuss was about! After being engrossed in the many products Murdock Barbers sell from Beard Oils to Cologne I then started to look at their locations  in London , ALL 7 OF THEM!

MURDOCK SOHO – 83 Brewer Street, Soho, London, W1F 9ZN
MURDOCK COVENT GARDEN 18 Monmouth Street, London, WC2H 9HB
MURDOCK SHOREDITCH 46 Redchurch St, London, E2 7DP
MURDOCK AT LIBERTY LONDON Liberty, 210-220 Regent Street, W1B 5AH
MURDOCK KING STREET Hackett London, 37 King St, WC2E 8JS
MURDOCK SPITALFIELDS Hackett, 75 – 77 Brushfield St, E1 6AA
MURDOCK SLOANE SQUARE Hackett, 137-138 Sloane Street, SW1X 9AY

There are 2 Murdocks in the Covent Garden Area, “Covent Garden” and “King Street” I went for the “King Street” store which Is above Hackett’s grand King Street townhouse and smack bang in the middle of Covent Garden!

I booked my appointment online with Barber; Charlie and went for the “Restyle” option as I hadn’t a clue what I wanted to have done so need some much-needed guidance which Charlie definitely provided!

As soon as I arrived I was offered a nice cold refreshing Birra Moretti Beer so I knew then I was going to love this place! Murdock, King Street has a cool retro atmosphere and they had a great playlist on the go! Oasis, Arctic Monkeys, Mumford & Sons you catch my drift!

Onto the haircut! I sat down and Charlie asked several questions about my hair, how I wanted it etc. and gave me 3 different options! I said I didn’t want anything to edgy but wanted something new and that’s definitely what I got! The care and precision Charlie took with my hair was so on point, its like every area had to be perfect (fine by me!) and throughout the haircut he kept checking I liked how it was looking, and showed me the different things he could do, so your very much still it total control.

Once my haircut was complete, Charlie went onto style my hair using several of the Murdock products including the Murdock Sea Salt Styling Spray and some kind of putty/clay which literally smelt amazing! Also I was given a splash of Cologne which again smelt amazing and seemed to last right up until I got home and had a shower! Great longevity! The range of Cologne’s can be seen HERE.

The above photo was taken after I styled it myself, Charlie did a much better job! Wish I get could get it done by him everyday but I’m going to have to learn!

The overall experience I received from Charlie at Murdock King Street was outstanding, plus I got a great haircut! I have my loyalty card and will 100% be returning!

Haircuts with a Barber range from £30 (One Grade All Over) to £55 (Restyle, Shampoo and Haircut) I went for the Restyle, Shampoo and Haircut which I thought was a great price for what I had done. Obviously prices are greater if you have a Senior Barber or Head Barber. Murdock London also offer a whole range of other services from Manicures, Facials, Shoe Shining, Beard Trims, Wet Shaves and packages which consist of the FULL WORKS! If I could actually grow facial hair, I would definitely go to Murdock for a hot towel!

If your on the lookout for a new Barber in London, or want to treat yourself then definitely checkout Murdock, Kings Street and ask for Charlie! Great banter which is always good! Checkout his Instagram for some of his work.
