The Percy Arms Hotel

Nestled in the Surrey Hills is the small village of Chilworth, the home of The Percy Arms, a South African-inspired restaurant and hotel.

I stayed here recently to celebrate my birthday, and to check out Guildford a neighbouring town. I didn’t particularly think much of Guildford town and its shops however I absolutely LOVED The Percy Arms and will 100% be returning!

I first saw The Percy Arms on Expedia and was instantly drawn to its interior and plushest of rooms, the decor is so my style I literally wanted to take everything home! Very rustic and recycled! The hotel has only 5 rooms so each room is pure luxury and every need is catered for, from the Flat Screen TVs, Egyptian Cotton Linen, Tea & Coffee Making Facilities, Luxury Toiletries & Continental Or Full Breakfast included in your stay!

I called The Percy Arms to book my room which was very easy and simple, the person I spoke with was very friendly and instantly sent me an email confirmation and receipt of payment.

The rooms are named after THE AFRICAN BIG 5, I stayed in the Tshukudu room which was a twin room overlooking the front of the building. As ever I always look at reviews before staying anywhere and a lot of people were mentioning the noise from the road, I can’t say I noticed the noise? And we had the window open most of the night so I don’t think this is really an issue unless you are Wolverine and have enhanced hearing!

We had no issues parking at the hotel, there is ample parking for its hotel guests and restaurant goers. As soon as we arrived we were greeted and taken to our room and told the “House Rules” how to get into the building after lock up (11pm) how to order breakfast, restaurant times, fire exits etc. all very helpful info!

No flaws with the room whatsoever I absolutely loved it! Free Wi-Fi which was handy, a big flat screen TV on the wall, coffee machine, organic hair/body washes in the bathroom! Everything you could wish for. The bathroom was huge, and the shower was to die for! So spacious and the organic hair and body products smelt and felt great. When looking on Trip Advisor pre staying at the hotel, I noticed there are not many photos of the Tshukudu room or its bathroom which is why I have added some so future guests can see what they have in store.

We visited on a Sunday so the restaurant was busy with guests enjoying there Sunday Carvery which smelt divine, we already had dining arrangements made in a neighbouring town otherwise we would have eaten in the hotel’s restaurant. I loved the way breakfast was arranged, when we entered our room we were given a form to complete which had breakfast options, Full English, Continental, Salmon etc. I went for the Full English with a glass of OJ & a glass on Bucks Fizz (it was my birthday after all) this was then handed to the bar staff, It also asked a time in which you wanted to eat, so when we went down to the restaurant the morning after we only waited a few minutes before our food was brought out. The food was delicious and again the decor in the restaurant was fantastic! Authentic Africana artefacts, photos, animal skins & oversized cushions feature heavily which really adds to the ambient surroundings.
